Lots of Layers for Inky Impressions this week

Hello again

I do hope you are all safe and well today - the storms in America have certainly made the news here in the UK - sending big hugs to all of you out there on the other side of the pond who are affected by this - and to those waiting to see where this terrible storm hits next, I'm sure it must be a real worry for you all.

I have made another little boy card for this weeks challenge at inky impressions  some of you are probably shouting - oh no not his again!! - but this is my absolute favourite little boy image - I think that its just a perfect image for a boy  - so here he is - mischievous Christopher

I made it for a friends little boy - somehow he just reminds me of him so much.  I had also made a gift bag of similar design a few weeks bag - so the two are going to Leo for his birthday

This is what i did.....

Bring out your Dies and punches for this weeks challenge at Fab'n'Funky

Morning all

Hope you're all having a good week.  I'm trying really hard to get ahead with my cards just now because I've got a really busy time at work coming up and I'm on the countdown for my happy hollies again! - only 3 more weeks before I'm off - I just can't wait

This week at Fab'n'Funky challenges the new challenge has been set by our very talented teamie

Pat K

Pat has chosen the theme of

Die cuts and Punches

I love this theme - there are just so many fab dies and punches around at the moment that we  all
have loads of choice for this challenge.

We are lucky enough to have our regular 1st prize sponsor

Stampart by Kathryne

Who is offering a fabulous 5 digis from her shop at Whimsey stamps to our this weeks chosen winner

as well as

Joanna Sheen

who is giving our random winner a £10 voucher to spend in her shop

I decided to make a little gift bag that I've filled with shortbread biscuits for Christmas as I thought that this gorgeous Digi from Stampart by Kathryne was just perfect as a topper for this kind of project - somehow I don't think this will be kept until Christmas  those bisuits will be eaten very soon!!

This is the gorgeous "Frosty friends" I know I will be using this cute image to make several boxes, bags and cards this year, it really is so easy to colour and I have to admit to having a real softspot for snowmen.

What I did.....

Sometimes things are not as they seem! - this weeks challenge for Delightful Challenges

Hello blogfriends

Its another Thursday and the last challenge of the month for Delightful Challenges
 - where did October go?

The challenge this week is

Stitching - real or faux

I decided to use this cute precoloured digi from Digital Delights called Stocking Noah (coloured) for this challenge just to "give it a go".  Its not something I've used very often before - if ever when I think about it - but I think this idea is Absolutely Fabulous (darling!)
 - now am I Patsy or Edina, I think there's a bit of both of them in me - I'm ashamed to say lol.

Anyway back to the plot - This image was just what I needed this week as I'm still battling away with technical problems with the computer and its been a bit of a busy one at home as well.  It was such a quick easy card to make and the colours have printed just beautifully - Who'd know I hadn't coloured (or stitched!) this card myself.  It could be just the way to go to make cards at the busy time coming up - no I'm not going to say the word - but you know what I mean!  You can still design your own card but put a pre coloured image on - it saves so much time and its not as if its a problem matching papers,  as all the Christmas (there I said it) papers are going to go with Christmas (there I said it again!) images.

If its the choice between not having time to make a card and using a precoloured image - its just a no brainer, and I know some crafters who - shock horror - BUY Christmas cards - the scandal of it lol.

Our sponsor this week over at Delightful Challenges is

Who are offering the Absolutely Fabulous (oops I'm off again!)
Prize of 3 sets from their store

This is what I did...

Nutcrafters challenge - Circles

Fab'n'Funky challenges - it's a bit of an animal!!

Hi all

Happy Wednesday!! I  hope its been a better day where you are, we've had drizzly rain and fog all day it just makes you feel so miserable :(   A bit of retail therapy came sort of accidently! I've had myself a  day shopping today, from what was supposed to be a quick trip to the shops to take some slippers back that were the wrong size.  We ended up staying out for lunch and afternoon coffee and I got so many bargains and shh Christmas shopping, it totally stopped what should have been my crafty day but I got some fab skinny jeans in Gap for £9.99 and a dress, cardigan and top  in the M&S outlet shop for  less than £40 - pretty good I think and really cheered me up!  When I got home my husband had hijacked the laptop for the night so I couldn't get on to do my (already late!) post and I dared not complain because it's usually me who monopolises it  - think he needs his own if this is going to happen lol.

Anyway back to this weeks challenge over at

We are lucky enough to have two sponsors this week over at Fab'n'Funky Digi Darla Designs (who gave us DT girls some fab images to play with)

Here's my card using Country Mailbox from Digi Darla Designs

I thought this was such a pretty stamp and a bit of a change from people!!  -well people just wouldn't be allowed in an Animals challenge would they lol.  I'm afraid this phot's not the best - a bit blurry in places - but you get the idea!!

Just sepia at My time to Craft

Good Morning blogfriends

And a happy Saturday to you!
I can't quite get used to this posting on a Saturday business! Its not that  I mind at all - in fact I like it, it just doesn't take much to confuse me and after the week I just had with blogger and broadband problems I want an easy life!

Todays challenge at My Time to Craft is set by my lovely blogging buddy Pat
and she has chosen the theme of

 Sepia

I have wanted to use this image for a while now but couldn't decide what to do with it.  When I saw Pats sepia challenge I had an idea that it might just work, instead of making it a typical colourful carousel horse its a vintage inspired card instead.  The image is a digi I won over at digi doodle shop and I decidd to add the sepia tones to the background before I printed it out.  When it printed the shades were very green looking and I matched it up to papers in those shades rather than the typical sepia shades - I really like how it turned out.

This is what I did...

Hello I'm back - with a very late DT card for creative craft challenges

Hello again

I've finally managed to get a connection to my broad band and make a post!  Its still not quite working properly but at least we can use it now.  Since we changed the router it wouldn't work at all and we found that the TV was causing interference - we've moved the router so at least we can connect but I   think the old one was actually better (and probably our broadband signal is hopeless anyway)
- so much for improvements.
I'm not sure if its the end of this story but at least I've been able to post again.  Luckily I had a few posts already scheduled this week so I haven't been totally absent.

I've got a card here tonight that I made for the Creative Craft Challenge this week but didn't get to post it - so here it is

Creative Craft Challenges are celebrating their 3rd birthday this week -so the theme of the challenge is

Three (3 or three of anything)

My three are "let it snow let it snow let it snow" for the sentiment

Well done to Sandra who has brought CCC through these last three years
its a great challenge blog

This card caused me such problems and probably should have gone in the bin, it was originally blue and had totally different paper and embellies - not really the same card at all!!  I recoloured the image green and paper pieced her wings to cover the glittery blue they had been
- I'm not one to give up on a job ha ha
As you can probably see its a very glittery shiny card - I love shiny Christmas cards

This is what I did...

Moving home with Myrtle from Digital Delights by Loobylou

Good morning - happy Monday to you all

Can I firstly apologise for not doing much visiting lately - I'm having HUGE problems with my internet connection - we changed the router on Friday - but its actually worse!  I'm having to spend my internet time giving priority to answering emails and getting my posts posted and anything after that is a bonus - hence not much visiting, hopefully we'll get it sorted soon - its been going on for a while now and I'm sick to death of it - I'm sure you've all been there!

It's my turn to host the Monday post over on the Digital Delights blog today.  Its my first hostess Monday post since I joined the DT at Delightful Challenges, and I have to say I'm just loving being on the team.  I decided to make a framed easel card, firstly because I really like making them and secondly - its a while since I made the last one!  I really enjoyed making this card - I love colouring images with lots of shading and I could see huge potential for this little lady with her fabulous shell.

Here's what I did...

I  printed the digi called Moving house Myrtle so it would fit into the second size spellbinders labels 10 die

Moving House Myrtle

then coloured the image with copics and prismacolor pencils.

Copic marker colours
Shell - E40,E41,E43, G63, G61
Body G28, G29, G24
Hat and house and toe nails! BG15, BG13, BG11, YR16, YR15, Y06, Y02
Grass G61, G63, G20, E43

Prismacolor pencils for shading
Cool grey,Grass green, Olive Green, Crimson (cheeks)

I then mounted onto a piece of petrol blue card from bazzill basics cut with the largest size labels 10 die   I made a narrow frame by using both dies and sanded it to give a slightly distressed effect.

These dies are the perfect size to make a frame on a 6in x 6in card.  I decorated the card base with paper from My Minds Eye called Fine and Dandy Boy and mounted on the same blue card. The New Home Circular Sentiment  is also from Digital Delights and I recoloured it before printing to fit the spellbinders scalloped die.

New Home Circular Sentiment

I then finished off with buttons punched with a Martha Stewart punch, scraps of ribbon and flowers.  The folded side conceals a greetings tag stamped with a Lili of the Valley greeting in a pocket that goes under the tag

I then mounted the contrasting paper onto the folded part of the card, decorated with a ribbon, button and Sweethear blossom flowers from wild orchid crafts  and stuck the frame topper so that half of the topper is above the folded card

And this is the finished card

I enjoyed making this card so much -the image was just a dream to colour and I was just so pleased with the finished card - hope it gives you some inspiration

Challenges I'm entering with this card ...

Fussy and Fancy Friday - easel cards
Southern girls challenge - lots of ribbon

hugs Judith xx

Tag it! at MAWTT

Hello again

Here I am at last - sorry to my teamies for rolling in late this week I thought I had myself all organised but had a few last minute things came up last night and although I had my project for this week done it just wasn't photographed or posted on time - a bit ironic really because i was a day early with my Delightful Challenges post - me thinks I need to sort myself out, I'm not really having a problem with the DT work - its the days of the week - they sneak up!!

Anyway over at MAWTT this week we have a fab little challenge

set by our lovely teamie Pami

The theme is

TAG IT!

We had a bit of discussion on the DT blog about what was and wasn't allowed and it was decided that as long as your project has a tag that you've made then it fits the challenge.  so not just Tags but cards that have tags are also OK.

Our fab sponsors this week are

Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps

The DT girls got some lovely digis to play with and here's what I did with mine

I decided to make a gift box to go with the tag as often if I make a tag just on its own it gets sort of put to one side and lost - now I have a ready made gift box - so I'll have to go out Christmas shopping and buy gifts to fit my boxes instead of the other way round lol.

Heres what I did ....

  • I made the box with white pearl card for the base and striped card from a large DCWV pad I've had for years.  I used my Crafters Companion ultimate pro to make the box and lid - it really is so easy to do - you just follow the grid lines and the base and lid fit each other perfectly
  • The tag is cut with spellbinders labels eleven - I used the Kraft card to mount the white tag as the stripe card has a vintage shaded look to it - you can see it on the RH corner.  I then inked the two tags with Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink and threaded it into Red organza ribbon
  • The cute snowman image is coloured with copics  to match the colours of the box lid
  • I decorated the box with the same ribbon - its just attached to the box lid in a cross and attached neatly inside the lid.
  • Finally I made a snowflake with a spellbinders snowflake die set and blue glittered paper and a WOJ pearl brad.  Then I made a small snowflake and pearl to finish off the tag
why don't you have a look over at MAWTT challenge blog at what the other girls have made - i have to say I was so impressed by the different tags they all came up with - I'm sure you will be so inspired that you'll all rush off full of ideas to enter our challenge - at least that's the plan!

Challenges I'm entering with this tag - Christmas is just around the corner (closes 1st dec)
Simon says stamp - dies ans punches
Cdee - designs challenge
Pennys paper-crafty challenge - anything but a card

Hope you all have a great weekend

Hugs

Judith xx

Digital Delights Sketch Challenge

Good morning again

I'm back again today with my DT card for Delightful Challenges.  I have to say this card caused me more problems than any card I've made in a long time! - even down to posting it on the wrong day at one point whoops!!  I chose the cute bride and groom image because I had a wedding card to make for some good friends of my daughter - and this image reminded me of the bride so much - it was just perfect.  I was all set to make the card last Thursday when my daughter rang and asked if I would help her to make a "keepsake box" for the bride and groom - they are very special friends and her husband was best man at the wedding.  So we arranged that she would come round the next night and I would make the card and she would decorate the box - or so I thought - and I really should have known better!!

What actually happened was she turned up with the box - and just the box which was about 2 ft long! and I ended up decorating it  - with my stuff - and no wedding card got made - and the wedding was the next day!!  so after she went home at about 10:30 pm I set about making the card  and completely forgot about the sketch I should have been following for my DT card.  The card and the box turned out beautifully and she called in next morning to collect them on the way to the wedding - dropping off her 9 month old baby to stay for the day and night as she went - What a wonderful mother and grandma I am!!!!

It wasn't until I went to upload the card on the challenge blog that I realised what I'd done -so another wedding card  was rattled off last minute to fit in with the sketch - and I wished I had just made this one first - it would have saved me so much time and bother lol.  On the other hand I've also got a lovely wedding card that I haven't posted yet - so watch this space.

Decorated box for Inky Impressions Inspirational blog

Hi all

Today its my turn for the inspirational post at Inky Impressions and I decided to make a cute little gift box.  I've made this as a Christmas gift box using the lovely Inky Impressions stamp Marleigha and Pebbles Ice skating available here

I made my box using  the Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro.   I always use this  to make boxes - it takes literally minutes, all of the instructions come with the ultimate pro and all you need is some card, glue and a pair of scissors.

This is how I made and decorated this gift box

  • I constructed the box using white pearl card for the base and a snowflake patterned card from DCWV for the lid.
  • I then stamped and coloured the image using copics and prismacolour pencils and added silver glitter
  • Next I made a tag for the box using a sizzix label die and stamped the sentiment from inky impressions - it says - "Just for you .... so you don't have to share"  - really cute sentiment!
  • I then decorated the tag with ribbon and a cute little winter penguin charm also from Inky Impressions

Hope you like it!

Challenges i'm entering with this card

Incy wincy challenges - anything goes
Make it Monday - anything goes
Stamp and create - winter wonderland
Just keep on creating -christmas is just around the corner (closes 1st dec)

This weeks challenge is

Colour on Kraft

Make anything you like as long as the coloured image is on Kraft card.  I have to admit that I've never done this before and it was a bit of a challenge - but wel,l thats what it is - I suppose some challenges are more challenging than others!!  The thing i found the hardest was that the kraft changes the colour of the pens so it needs a bit of thought to get it right.

I  decided to go really simple and make a tag with a gorgeuos stamp that I've had for ages but never used - I thought it would fit this challenge well

The flower and the sentiment are both from a beautiful set by Anna Griffin - I think its botanical flowers or something like that!  I made the tag in 3 layers in Kraft and Bazzill card in blue and coloured the stamped flower with blue copics  numbers B61,63 and 65.  I then went over it with a white gel pen to highlight the details and that really brought it to life.  The ribbons are from a bag of scrap ribbon.  There are several of these gorgeous flowers in the set - think I might make some more of these simple tags with different flowers.

Have a great weekend everyone - hope everyone enjoys the craft show at Harrogate - I would have loved to have gone but I'm babysitting my grandson while my daughter is away for the week at a wedding - so no can do!!
